The reasons we seek therapy are as unique and varied as the individuals who seek support in the safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space of the therapeutic setting. But, broadly speaking clients tend to be either after answers to some big life questions, eager to resolve those parts of their lives that have become stuck or painful, or longing to rediscover their internal compass and set a new course.
You may be at a point in your life where you’re struggling with a seismic life transition such as how you identify, a relationship break-up, menopause, or a bereavement. Maybe you’re overwhelmed and find it hard to cope. You might be feeling anxious, depressed, lonely or stressed or find yourself stuck in a pattern that seems on repeat. Perhaps you’ve bent yourself out of shape trying to please other people and still feel you’re failing. Maybe you’re wondering why or how you’re on your own, whether you’ve done something wrong, or why you seem to be falling out with those closest to you. You might be finding decision-making difficult and have lost the momentum to take control of your life and move forward. Or perhaps you’re seeking support to avoid a crisis tipping point.
Whatever you’re experiencing, you might well want to understand more about why you do the things you do to experience a more fulfilling life. We can get caught up in sweating the small, day-to-day stuff so much that we lose sight of who we are and what and where we really want to be. What floats your boat and makes you feel alive? When did you last grin from ear-to-ear with joy? Feel true happiness?
